Lowest Priced Chains Available – PL Series

A few years ago, RUD Chain had manufactured a large number of PL Series Tire Chains. They were and still are a decent quality traditional ladder style snow chain for passenger vehicles. Unfortunately for RUD Chain, they did not have in place the marketing mechanisms to sell these chains. Part of the reason had to do with a changing US market place where many owner’s manuals of passenger vehicles recommend that drivers of these smaller cars use cables instead of chains. Nevertheless, not all passenger vehicles have this requirement. And many people do still prefer these traditional chains as they do arguably provide better traction than cables. They especially provide better traction than the cheap cobra cables that have steel rollers surrounding a thin cable.

The first pair of chains I ever owned was back in 1991 and they were just like these PL Series chains I am talking about. I used them to cross over Donner Pass during a freak April snow storm. I absolutely loved them. After spending 6 years living and driving in Utah snow without chains, I couldn’t believe how fun it was to climb the steep highway hills and have full control on the front wheels. I held onto them until I eventually turned in that Datsun 210 for a newer vehicle.

RUD still has many of these chains available. Last season and this season, I have been stocking several gas stations with these chains and they have been selling well.

So here is the deal. You can purchase them on the http://tirechaindealer.com website for $21.00. Yes – $21.00. You can find similar chains of other brands available on line for anywhere between $35 and $80. If you don’t believe me, just go to Google Shopping and type in “tire chains PL Series” and you will see many of them listed.

So if you are in the market for some low priced traditional style chains for passenger vehicles, then go to http://tirechaindealer.com/plseries.php.

I love the video! The guy is really cute. But his shirt is too big.

I think SnoClaws are probably easier since you don’t have to back up over them and you can put them on whether you are stuck or not. Plus they are self cleaning. OH and they won’t tear up the roads so us taxpayers don’t have to foot the bill for more roads. I think their Inventor is cuter.

I am not going to dispute your claim that the SnoClaws are better than the PL Series Chains. The SnoClaws seem like a really cool product. However, the SnoClaws cost over $100 more per set than the PL Series chains. The whole point about this blog post is that this is the absolute low cost option for snow chains – they are being sold at clearance discount pricing. At $21, they are even cheaper than cobra cables.

Time is money and you can install SnoClaws in less then a minute. They will also last 5 to 6 years. So if you weigh out the benefits of time savings and longevity the initial cost can be offset quickly. After all cheap is….!!!!
