RUD Centrax – What’s in the Box

We are now stocking the RUD Centrax as we chose to bring in about 25 sets of them. Now about 1 month later, I am able to see the selling patterns of this high end – yet really cool product. Next year, I will bring in significantly more of them as they are selling very well. If you are not familiar with the Centrax, it is the chain that connects to your lug nut. Or should I say, you put a bolt onto your lug nut. When you chain up, you connect the Centrax to the bolt, secure it down and drive away. You will find more pictures and YouTube movie for installation on our official page for the RUD Centrax found at http://tirechaindealer.com/centrax.php.

Today, I decided to take some pictures of the contents of what ships with it as the movies and marketing photos from RUD Chain don’t always tell you everything.

The carrying case is a nice soft and squishy protective case.

Inside the case, the lid has the instructions and accessories in a zipped pocket. The body of the bag has the Centrax chains.

The accessories include lug nut attachments for three different sizes of lug nuts. There are also 4 different options for the bolt size that you will attach to the lug nut. A wrench is included to secure the bolt in place. Follow the instructions in the manual to decide which bolt to use. It should result in the bolt sticking 2.5 cm outside of the lug nut encasing.

Lastly, I am holding up one of the chains for a close up look. The device definitely has the feel of a quality constructed item. The rubber spacer holding the chain in place if stiff yet pliable to conform to the tire. The outer metal arms are very stiff and not likely to bend much more than you need them to for installing on the tire. The chain itself is a 3 1/2 mm link size chromium manganese chain – a material much stronger than the steel alloy used in most other chains.

My only regret – they are not for me. I drive a RAM 3500. These chains are a perfect solution for drivers of a BMW, Volvo, Cooper, or a Toyota Prius. There are probably others out there that can use them too. I don’t expect my stock of them to last for long. Nevertheless, if they are listed in the online catalog for your tire size, they should still be in stock. When they go out of stock, I will remove them from the catalog.

The Centrax is made in Germany by RUD Chain.
